About the Team

CyberproAI is rapidly growing its Baku, Azerbaijan office, currently with around 40 employees. The team works on complex AI and cybersecurity products, including Bina and Enlight, designed to help protect large organizations and governments from cyber threats.

You’ll join a small, hands-on QA team and work closely with QA Engineers, Developers, Data Engineers, and Product Managers in an international environment.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on QA Engineer to help ensure the quality and reliability of complex data systems.

You will test backend services, APIs, databases, and data pipelines, combining manual exploratory testing with automation. You’ll take ownership of your testing areas and have the opportunity to grow further in data validation, automation, and integration testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute manual and automated tests for data pipelines, databases, APIs, and backend systems.
• Develop and maintain automated tests using Playwright, JavaScript, or TypeScript within the existing automation framework.
• Validate data accuracy, consistency, and completeness using SQL across relational and non-relational databases.
• Create test cases, estimate testing effort, and review test coverage for assigned features.
• Investigate, reproduce, and analyze defects, collecting evidence and working closely with developers and data engineers to resolve issues.
• Perform exploratory, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Contribute to improving QA standards, documentation, test processes, and automation practices.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Developers, and Product Managers to understand requirements, identify risks, and uncover edge cases.
• Support releases by communicating test results and proactively flagging quality risks.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in QA Engineering.
• Hands-on experience testing backend systems, APIs, databases, or data pipelines.
• Experience with test automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, RestAssured, or Postman.
• Programming experience in Python, Java, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
• Strong SQL skills and experience validating data in relational and/or non-relational databases.
• Solid understanding of manual testing, including exploratory, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Ability to investigate backend issues, analyze logs, and understand how different system components interact.
• Strong ownership mindset: proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently.
• Excellent communication and professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Hands-on experience using AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar LLM tools in day-to-day QA work, for example:

1. writing or reviewing test cases;
2. generating test data;
3. debugging;
4. drafting automation scripts.

• Ability to critically review and verify AI-generated output rather than relying on it blindly.

Nice to Have

• Experience testing ETL processes or data pipelines.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution.
• Experience with cloud data platforms.
• Exposure to message queues.
• Experience working in cybersecurity, AI, or other complex technical domains.
